Best of luck to the 3 adult football teams that start their league campaigns this weekend.

The Seniors with their new management team (Ronan Dodd, James O'Keefe, Dermot McStay) will be hoping to get off to the perfect start when they host Naomh Mearnog on Sat at 4pm. Clontarf have had comfortable victories over Mearnog in the past 3 seasons, but that won't count for much on Sat. A near strength side recorded a fine win over Annes in the Cup opener, but things did not go as well against Naomh Olaf in their last game.  Clontarf have reached the top 5 playoffs in 2005 and 2004 and will once again be considered strong contenders for promotion. As always the lack of injuries is critical to success and on Sat Kevin Devine will be a big loss.

The Junior A's face a difficult league opener away to St. Peregrines a team that finished 3rd and narrowly missed out on promotion to Div 5 last season. However Clontarf did produce a sparkling display to defeat Peregrines back in November and should take confidence from that win. Clontarf played some excellent football in their Cup opener V St. Brigids (who were promoted to Div 5) and were unlucky to let the game slip away in the final 10 mins. The Junior A's finished 6th in the 2005 league and will hopefully have gained the necessary experience to push that bit higher and capture league honours.

Division 6 this year sees a few interesting newcomers. Stacey Cup winners and a very strong side Ballyboden St. Endas were promoted from Div 7, along with Man O' War and as is always the case both of these teams will be strong contenders for promotion. Another Div 7 team from 2005 St. Finians (S) were also promoted at the expense of Skerries. Dropping down from Div 5 will be Robert Emmets, while Parnells drop from Div 4 having withdrawn from competition in mid-season.

The Junior B's also have a difficult opener against St. Patricks of Palmerstown. St. Pats led the league for quite some time last year and only lost out in the promotion playoff in Jan to Naomh Barrog. Pats were convincing 12pt winners in the corresponding fixture last year.
