Clontarf GAA Full Time Coach - Neil O'Driscoll Minimize

Neil_gpo.jpgClontarf GAA Club formally acquired their new Games Promotion Officer on 25th of April 2006. This person is Neil O’Driscoll.

Neil O’Driscoll is a 26 year old native of  Portmarnock, Co.Dublin. He attended Portmarnock Community School and followed on to University College Dublin where he completed a Diploma and BSc Degree in Sports Management graduating in Nov 2004. He's a member of the Naomh Mearnog club in Portmarnock where he plays both senior Huring and senior Football.

Neil has extensive underage football and hurling experience having represented Dublin at all levels from U14 to senior in the O’Byrne Cup in 2002. He has won u14, 16, minor and u21 Leinster Championship medals and was on the beaten Dublin team in the All Ireland U21 final against Galway in 2002. He has also represented Dublin in hurling from U14 through to minor playing in an All Ireland semi-final against Cork in 2000 while also playing on the Dublin Colleges hurling team that lost in two Leinster finals to St Kierans College Kilkenny.

Neil has strong links with Clontarf as his dad’s family home is on Mount Prospect Avenue and his Grandfather was GP to the area for many years and his medical practice is now continued on by Neil’s uncle and Godfather Frank O’ Driscoll. He has countless fond childhood memories of playing football in the park and is delighted to be back in the familiar environment of pitch 34/35.

Neil’s other interests are mainly sporting as he would have actively played rugby, basketball, golf and soccer. He also enjoys traveling. He cannot wait to spread the passion that he has for Gaelic Games and only hopes that the children of Clontarf will get as much enjoyment out of the games as he has.

The goals for Clontarf GAA Club at the moment are to build on all the great work that has gone before. Increasing and maintaining playing numbers is of utmost importance to us. A simple measure of fun for players is their willingness to return and continue to play. With the club’s fantastic facilities available to all teams it is our challenge to improve the quality of coaching, mentoring and play for Clontarf GAA Club. From the Saturday morning nursery to social football on a Friday evening, participating numbers, fun and the quality of the process and not our performance is the vision for the club. With continued hard work and dedication from all involved Clontarf GAA Club can only go from strength to strength.
