Senior Footballers had 2 league game this week. On Wednesday they drew with O’Tooles (0-10,0-10). On Sat they lost narrowly away to Kilmacud Crokes B (2-9,2-10). Despite the loss, there was excellent commitment and excellent performances from all players. Improved handling and possession kept Clontarf in the game. One or 2 mistakes were punished by goals and unfortunately Clontarf were just not accurate enough in front of goals. A lot of positives, while some shooting practice wouldn’t go astray.

Adult Hurling – A good win in a friendly game V St. Sylvesters (0-7,1-10). Training Monday in Total Fitness, last circuit session. It’s back to the Rose Garden on Wed.

Minors

Minor Hurling - Erin's Isles 3.13 - Clontarf 1.10

Final score does not accurately  reflect  the trend of this game . Playing  with the aid of a stiff breeze  in miserable conditions Clontarf  had by far the better of the  1st half exchanges  helped by an early goal from A Donnelly and led by 1.6 to 0.1 approaching  half time.  A late  goal  brought  Isles back  in the game  just before half time. Clontarf continued  to fight bravely  against the elements in the  2nd half,  until  the concession of 2 goals  midway  through the half decided the game.  Team  is beginning to take good shape   which augurs well for the remaining games and the  championship later on  in the season.

Minor Football – Clontarf defeated Naomh Mearnog (1-11,1-7) in div 2 of the league on Wednesday. Read the full match report on the website  -  http://www.clontarfgaa.com/Matches/Match_Reports/tabid/1193/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Under 21 Football – Clontarf lost the quarter final of the B Championship to St Peregrines (2-5,3-19). The game was over as a contest after 15 mins with Peregrines leading 2-5,0-0.

Under 16 Hurling  -

A great 3-7 to 3-6 win against Skerries. This was a great battle throughout with the lead changing a number of times during the game. After Clontarf had dominated the second half against the breeze Skerries took a one point lead through a goal with 3 minutes remaining but Clontarf rallied with two brilliant last gasp points from Conor Cronin and Aidan O'Donohoe. Mark Plunkett, Stephen Reynolds, Harry Connolly, Aidan O'Donohoe, Conor Croning and Conor Headon all excelled.

Under 15 - Hurlers were narrowly defeated by Clan na Gael in a good game in poor conditions this morning in the League. The scoreline was 5-01 to 2-07. Best for Clontarf were Joey O Grady and Leo Farrelley. A Footballers play Ballyboden next weekend.

Under 14 – no info

Under 13 Hurlers – A great away win over Commercials of Rathcoole ( 2-8,1-2). This was a sterling performance by a depleted but on form Clontarf side, ably supported by U12’s Jack Clerk, Daniel Scully, Stephen Smith and goalkeeper Daniel Patton. Patton was man of the match, with a string of fine saves. The U13’s have discovered a superb full forward in Sean McCullagh, scoring 2 class goals and a lovely point, setting the scene for 2 long range pts from mighty Paddy Foley and 2 beauties from the nimble Kevin Mullins, ably assisted by his brother John. A point each flowed from Thomas Craddock, Luke Holden and Sean Brodie. All in all a great day out and due credit to all involved.

Under 12  Football – A team were beaten by Na Fianna on Friday, B’s were given a walkover and C’s were beaten by St. josephs OCB. Despite losses, A’s and C’s still qualify for semi-finals this week.

Ladies Junior

Div 7 League
Clontarf 9-5         Craobh Chiaran 1-1

Clontarf junior ladies got their league campaign back on track with an emphatic victory over neighbours Craobh Chiaran in St. Annes.  Starting without a number of regulars Clontarf confined Craobh to sporadic forrays out of their own half and would have lead by more than 3-3 to 1-1 at half time were it not for 12 first half wides.  The flood gates did open in the second half which after a slow start saw Clontarf add 6-2 without reply.  Top scorer on the night was Ciara Carville with 3-1, while Grainne Free and Miriam Foley kept things tight at the back

U16 Girls.

U14 Girls – no info

U13 Girls – This week ‘TEAM OF THE WEEK’, after a magnificent win over close rivals Scoil Ui Chonaill (3-12,2-10). This was an exciting game of football, with Clontarf producing a fine team display to secure the win.

U12 Girls – Were narrowly beaten by Skerries. Well done to everyone and especially to Mary Shanahan for a great goal.

U11 Girls – Recorded a good draw with Na Dubhgall (3-2,3-2).

U10 Girls

A team competing in Div 1 lost out to league leaders Foxrock Cabinteely, but battled hard throughout and are improving every week.

B team competing in Div 3 put in a battling display against Foxrock Cabinteely. Playing against girls generally a year older than themselves, most of te game was played in the Clontarf half. Defending was brave and resolute, with standout performances from Ellen Doyle, Ciara Dunlea and Heather Bolger. Two late goals put a gloss on the Foxrock victory (3-0), but our footballers played well as a team, with skills continuing to improve.amogie
