Senior Footballers drew with Templeogue SS (2-5,1-8) in the league, thanks to a last min goal. This was the first game on our new pitches and thanks to all those who turned up to support the seniors.
Report by RD: This was a gritty 60 minute performance from Clontarf against a physically stronger and taller TSS. As per last years game TSS were extremely hard hitting and while they had less possession they hunted down the ball very well and put in some very strong tackles often dispossessing Clontarf or pushing us back and forcing errors. TSS were also able to make far better use of their lesser share of possession scoring with most of their attacks in the first half.
To Clontarfs credit we enjoyed 60 % possession throughout the game with accurate passing, good handling and gathering of breaking ball. Unfortunately due to poor decision making and options in front of the posts we failed to convert this possession into scores. This was particularly apparent in the first half when shots for goal were forced at times, opportunities for points were turned down in favour of passing the responsibility to another player and ironically Clontarf failed to spot the free man at times in a better scoring position. The score at half time was 1-3 to 1-3 and realistically Clontarf should have been 3 to 4 points ahead at this point.
TSS started the better in the second half and Clontarf seemed to tire in some positions. Once again TSS were accurate and decisive and quickly knocked up 6 or 7 points to lead the game by four with ten minutes remaining. Thankfully Clontarf continued to battle and with the aid of some fresh legs (Neil Shanahan and Neil Mullins made important contributions) managed to pull back the lead leaving it to almost the last play of the game to get the deciding goal. Clontarf will be pleased to get a point from this game as it looked beyond reach at times in the second half.
Earlier in the week the Seniors were defeated by St. Brigids (2-17,1-6) in the Championship. Brigids led by 1-8,0-5 at half time , with Clontarf finishing the half strong. Clontarf were totally overpowered in most positions in the 2nd half. All players tried hard and better marking could have kept the scoreline more respectable , despite the difference in class
Junior Football – A memorable weekend for Junior football, with the club fielding 3 teams in Championship action
Junior A’s defeated Garda away (3-11,2-6), with great performances from John Traenor and Darren Ryan, while all forwards played well.
Junior B’s set an Adult Football club record in this millennium as Willie O’Connor’s team posted 8 wins on the trot, with cup and championship wins last week. In midweek they defeated Naomh Barrog (4-12, 0-6) in the cup. In the Championship they defeated St. Peregrines (2-9,0-9) as Johnny O’Connell and Graham Johnson grabbed the vital goals.
Junior C’s drew away to Parnells (0-10,0-10) in the Junior D Championship. Clontarf dominated the opening half with minors Shane Doyle and Kevin McGrath superb. Clontarf led by 6 at the interval (0-8,0-2). Parnells stormed back into the tie and led by 1pt as time was almost up. The final action of the game was a 45 for Clontarf, which Ian Sunderland slotted over with a magnificent effort to send the tie back to pitch 35. The match also saw the return to action of 2 great servants, Mick Moylan in goals and Donal Nolan at full back - forever young!

Rout by Clontarf over old revivals who thrashed us 2 years ago. This is a great yardstick for progress and hardwork by this hurling team. Great goalkeeping by Daniel Patton and clearances. Excellent goal poaching by Sean (Poacher) McCullough. Impact sub James Sweeney scored great goal. Welcome back to Sean McGovern who added to really solid defense.

Clontarf 2-8 Raheny 6-8
A good start is half the battle and Clontarf achieved this on what was a lovely sunny evening in St. Annes. Unfortunately we forgot that it is only half the battle and ended up on the wrong side of a four goal defeat. Unlike the recent league game Clontarf got into this game from the start and after a series of wides were the first to score with points from Caroline Kenny and Sarah Murphy. This good work was cancelled when Raheny scored 1-1 against the run of play and went on to add two more goals. Our girls battled back and with Caroline Kenny finishing to the net from close in and adding another point along with points from play from Sarah Murphy (3) and Amy Farrell (1) the half time score stood at 1-6 to 3-1 for Raheny. During the first hafl we also hit the crossbar twice and the post once without getting a rub of the green. The tide turned in Raheny's favour in the second half and they were able to add 3-7 while Clontarf could only muster 1-2 thanks to points from Ciara Carville and Emer Shalloo and a late goal from Caterine Duane.
Next week sees the start of the Championship round robin section with a home game against Erin go Breagh.
U16 Girls. – defeated Cuala (4-10, 5-8) in a closely run match. Thanks to Sarah McCaffrey, Fiona Mulhall and Laura Plunkett for helping out. Best for clontarf was Jill Taylor.

U12 Girls – Great win for the Under 12 Girls in the league away to St Maurs. Superb gutsy performance from the whole team especially the defence led by Caoimhe Troy in goal and performance of the match goes to Michelle Hetherton in full back, Ciara O Farrell was also excellent in half back. The team performed really well with a very high scoring finish. Fiona Terry scored 2 goals and 3 points, Amy O Meara and Grace Carroll scored 2 goals each, Eva Kelly one goal and 1 point, Una Raymond-Hoey one goal and Mary Shanahan one Point. Well done to everyone on such an excellent performance.
U11 Girls – were defeated by a strong Scoil Ui Chonaill team in the league.
U10 Girls – A team playing in Div 1 had a great win over Raheny, with a fantastic team performance.
U10 Div 3 had a league match against Naomh Mearnog - our thanks to Mick and his team for rearranging to avoid our First Communions. The visitors ran out winners by 5 points but that did not do justice to the Clontarf performance which had everything (hit the bar, hit the post, wide right, wide left, goalmouth scrambles, ricochets for 45s) bar a Clontarf score. There were standout performances from Aoibhe Bell and Ellen Davis in midfield, Grace Allen in defence and Cliodhna McMahon in goal.
Camogie – Nothing to report
