Adult Hurlers recorded an important Championship win over Naomh Fionnbarra (1-8,3-12). Despite a dominance of first half possession Clontarf only lead 1-6,0-4 at the break. Half time sub Damien Markey scored Clontarf's 2nd goal and when Ger Devine blasted a close range free to the net after 40 mins the contest was over. Next up in the Championship, St. Kevins away on Tue July 22nd.
Senior Footballers will hope to stop the slide with 2 vital league games this week. On Wed they host Parnells at 7:45pm and then travel to Naomh Olaf on Sat.
Junior A's hope to maintain their 100% league record as they host Templeogue SS on Sunday morning at 10:45
Junior B's will have their most important week so far this year as they hope to rebound from the Brigids defeat, with a home league game on Tue (7:45) V Templeogue SS. On Thur they host AIB in the Championship ¼ final (7.45), all support welcome for this clash.
Junior C's hosted Pereguines on Sat in an entertaining challenge match. Clontarf ran out easy winners with Ian Sunderland (1-8) in superb form and also notable performances from the midfield paring of Alan Vale / Niall O'Reilly and full forward Steve Moore. The match saw the return to action after injury and an Adult Football debut for Colm McCabe who had a fine hour between the posts. Steve Moore opened the scoring with a converted penalty in the 1st minute, while the biggest cheer of the night was for half back Matt O'Neill who ventured forward to score his first point in 14 years.
Under 9 – Footballers competed in the Ger Canavan Cup
Team of the week are the Clontarf Under 9's who put in a very credible performance in the ger canavan cup in o'tooles which ran from the 8th to the 10th july. Having performed poorly in their opening match against na fianna they raised their game substantially thereafter. They dispatched sylvesters 28 - 8 in the 2nd match they went on to beat naomh marnog handsomely in the semi final.
In the final they were beaten by 4 scores by - you guessed it - na fianna. the game got away from them in the last 5 minutes as they only had 10 mins rest after a tough semi final win against marnog!! well done all the lads.
Sean McCullagh,Josh Carton,Brian Dufficy,Shane Holden,Niall McCaffrey,Shay Keogh,Eoghan Doody,Rory Goode,Billy O'Brien,DJ O'Flaherty,Ciaran McKeon and Eoin Quigley all starred for Cluain Tarbh!!
