U12 Games 2007

|
The U12’s footballers secured a rare double by adding the Division 1 league to the Cup which they won back in the late spring. The players had to mix flair and tenacity to secure the league. This was especially evident in the top 4 playoffs where tight victories over Na Fianna and St Brigids was followed by a draw against Vincents. This victory in many ways is more significant than the Cup result simply because of the hard work and commitment required from the players. In all 3 games against the top sides, no quarter was given by any of the teams involved. This discipline combined by their natural ability gives the side a good chance of continuing to perform at a high level in the near future.
Some of the most satisfying outcomes of this campaign has been the development of certain players who have moved from being good team players to outstanding performers. It is also extremely satisfying to see that 9 of the team are representing Belgrove in the Seniors boys final in Croke Park in December. Hopefully they can continue their winning ways and bring the Senior Cup to the school. Finally, it is also equally important to acknowledge the efforts of our Mentors in bringing on the U12 hurlers in leaps and bounds over the last 12 month especially Jim and Shane. The culmination of this work was their success in securing a tremendous Shield success in the late summer.
