Extended Clubnotes - November 24th

TEAM OF THE WEEK:
The under 21 hurlers who marked their first outing at championship level with a hard-fought win one point win over St Mark’s under the lights at home.

ADULT GAMES:
AFL 8 final Wednesday, November 25. Throw in at 8.30pm, Russell Park. All support welcome.
AHLF: The club would like to thank all the lads for their sterling efforts in AHL5, achieving third place in the league. The team and mentors also have high hopes for the Doyle Cup, and are just waiting on other results.

JUVENILE GAMES:

Under 16:
The under 16 footballers secured a draw against Templeogue Synge St in a very exciting and entertaining home league game. Best for Clontarf were Jack McCaffrey, Matthias McDonagh, Ryan Lattin, Brian Forde and Andrew Cooke.

Under 13s:
The Bs comeback kings were denied a superb victory against St Brigid’s with a cruel late goal against the run of play. Clontarf were losing  nine points to one at half time and staged an exceptional second half fight back to draw level with five minutes remaining. There was an outstanding performance of Andy McLean (normally the goalkeeper).
He played brillianly at centre half back for the first 15 minute before being injured. Brigids scored 1-4 while he was injured but upon his reintroduction in the second half, he dominated the game again. Eddie Byrne was excellent at midfield and Dermot O Houlihan was a rock at full back. A great team performance.

Under 12:
Play Craobh Chiarain on Pitch 21 this Saturday.

Under 11s:
Hurlers play Kilmacud Crokes at St Paul’s on Saturday, while the 1A and 1B fooballers  take on Na Fianna on Sunday at St Paul’s. The one-team U11 footballers take on St Patrick’s Donabate away at Robbie Farrell Park.

Under nines:
Second week of the indoor hurling played on the astro in hurricane-like conditions. A much tougher test with a string of narrow losses to St Vincent’s and Raheny. Last week of the tournament this Sunday from 1pm against Lucan Sarsfields.

Nursery:
Quicker to the ball than a Frenchman’s hand, the nursery kids showed all their hurling skills on the astro despite the woeful weather.
