"O'Grady Dictates before he Migrates"
Clontarf 0-10 V Erin's Isles 0-6 (HT 0-5,0-2)
Clontarf's Junior B's registered another fine league win, this time away against Erin's Isle (0-6,0-10). With several minors unavailable, a number of the 'older' boys were rolled out in a bid to keep the Killer B's hovering near the top of the table. It's was also Captain O'Grady's last game before his annual migration south to the Iberian Peninsula.
Clontarf enjoyed the lions share of possession in the 1st half and led 0-2,0-5 at the break. Credit for some solid defending, a class save from Mick Moylan and some inspired shooting from Aidan Mullany and Eoghan O'Grady.
Isles were a different outfit on the resumption as they reeled in the 'Tarf lead. 2 early scores from O'Grady were to prove vital. Isles made several switches and their fresh legs were causing Clontarf much stress. As the clock ran down, Isles disappeared from the Clontarf rear view mirror, moved into the fast lane and looked a sure bet to take the points. With 2 mins remaining, Clontarf perilously clung to a 1 pt lead (0-7,0-6). Somehow O'Grady and Gaskin found a 2nd wind and reopened the supply lines to the fowards. Albert Martin returning to his old stomping ground fired over a magnificant score and that was soon followed by another cracker from Declan Groarke. With time almost up, Niall O'Reilly made a vital interception, was then fouled and O'Grady tapped over. Clontarf had rattled off 3 great scores in as many minutes to seal the victory.
Conor Keane and Ger Carey had inspired games in defence, while Moylan was rock solid between the posts. Up front minor Declan Groarke and the returning Aidan Mullany made telling contributions to the 'Tarf tally. But the undoubted MVP on the night was O'Grady, who dicated the flow of the game and helped himself to 4 pts from play and 2 from placed balls.
