Our Camogie team headed out to Cuala's Thomastown Pitches for the Div 2 Camogie Feile at the end of April. A good win in our first match over Good Counsel was followed by a great win over Naomh Barrog, who had come from Division 1 of the League. Our final group match was against our hosts, Cuala, to decide who would top the group and a closely contested match ended ina great win for Clontarf.
Our semi-final match, which was held 40 mins after our last group game, was a tough one against Kilmacud Crokes and, unfortunately, the girls ran out of steam and where beaten.
A great day was had by all, even though the our final result was not what we wanted, but the fact that the girls got to a Div 2 Semi-final is a great testement to all the hard work put in by the girls and their mentors over the years.
We had 2 teams in the Football Feile, in Divisions 1 and 7 with the Division 7 team hosting their group in St Anne's Park on the 18th May.
A lot of work was put in to stage the group at very short notice and thanks to all parents and to the club for the assistance given, it was a great day and very well run. Unfortunately, on the football side the Divsion 7 side had a tough day and did not progress out of their group.
For the Division 1 side, after a very good opening game against Clanna Gael and a tough 2nd game against Kilmacud Crokes, they were playing their last group game against hosts, Erins Isle, to decide who would top the group. Erins Isle won by 2 pts which meant Clontarf had to travel to St Brigid's ground to play St Brigids in the semi-final. A tight and tough game resulted in Clontarf progressing to the final the next day in St Peregrines against Erins Isle, a first time for any team in the club to play in the Division1 Feile Final.
The final was a close affair with Erins Isle leading by 1pt at half time and by 3 pts with 9 minutes to go but a great turnaround by the girls in the last 9 mins meant Clontarf won by 5 pts. With fantastic support from the Div 7 team and the club, a great night was had by all and the team is now looking forward to the National Feile in Galway at the end of June.
We are always looking for new girls to join our group and all levels are catered for. However, we can only accept girls born in 2005. Any queries, please contact David O'Neill (087 287 2115).
