Campaí Chluain Tarbh - Clontarf Advanced Camps 2018

We are running a high performance athletic and skill development camp for our teenage members in August.  These camps will primarily focus on showing these young athletes the benefits and importance of athletic development. There will be aspects on nutrition, warm ups, speed, mobility, among some specific sport specific skills. Clontarf’s GAA’s strength, conditioning and rehabilitation specialist Shane Dalton, has kindly offered the benefit of his expertise and will co-ordinate the camp. All speakers and coaches brought in will be of the highest quality.

Guest Coaches

  • Dublin Gaa Player (workshop on skills)
  • Current Irish No 1 U23’s 400m hurdles (speed development)

These camps can only operate on a cost neutral basis so if minimum numbers are not met, we reserve the right to cancel with a full refund applicable.

 

Camp details:

  • Camps are Wednesday to Friday
  • August 15th-17th - Boys U14-U16 from 10.00am to 12.30pm
  • August 15th-17th - Girls U14-U16 from 1.00pm to 3.30pm
  • The camps will run in the clubhouse/gym
  • €45 per athlete

The cost will be €45 per head; this will include all guest speakers and coaches, as well as the cooking ingredients for the healthy cooking demonstration.

 

Provisional outline for the week;

 

Tuesday 

  • Foam rolling, muscle activations and warm ups - Teaching the basics in prehab and injury prevention, as well as going through the process that constitutes a good warm up.
  • Nutrition lecture - Healthy eating habits, how to read food labels effectively, understanding what fuels your body, and hydration practices.
  • Speed Work - agility and speed work relevant to our games, incorporating a ball

Wednesday

  • Fundamental Movement mobilizations and progressions - Highlighting the benefits of the fundamental movement skills and how they relate to our games, as well as key components to practice at home and incorporate into their training.
  • Healthy Cooking workshop - practical cookery demonstration showing simple techniques to prepare nutritious, healthy food to fuel their sport.
  • Skills work - specific skill work on one area of their game, with a guest coach.

Thursday

  • Sample athletic development session - Incorporating all they have learned and putting it into practice in a short, but intense session to give them an insight into the elite athletes preparation off the pitch
  • Anaerobic workout - A session focusing on high intensity work to show the need for increased levels of anaerobic fitness for our games
  • Speed and Power work - Implementing a ball into a speed and power session. Highlighting the impact the work off the pitch can have on their performance levels.
  • Summary lecture - going over all that you have learned over the past week

We will be limiting the camps to roughly 30-36 athletes per week. This is to ensure the quality of the material is top notch. 

 

The camps will operate on a first come, first serve basis. When we are full, we are full!!!
